History of HARAKAT

In 2008, Harakat was founded with funding of 30£ million from DFID to deliver the Afghanistan Investment Climate Facility (AICF) program. The goal of Harakat-AICF was to remove and reduce regulatory and institutional barriers to doing business in Afghanistan

About Us

keeping in mind the overarching objectives of the AICF, the HARAKAT t program had been divided into four pillars:

Harakat-Afghanistan Investment Climate Facility Organization (Harakat-AICFO) is an independent, non-profit and Afghan-led organization working to make it easier to do business in Afghanistan. The organization works closely with the Government, civil society and private sector partners across four key areas.
Harakat recognizes the unique challenges and barriers that companies in Afghanistan experience, and it understands that graft, bureaucracy and non-enforceable policies hinder private sector development and inclusive growth. Therefore, it joins forces with relevant entities in the Government, private sector, civil society and international community to address these issues and build a thriving investment environment in thecountry.
Harakat-AICFO follows on the successes of Harakat-Afghanistan Investment Climate Facility (Harakat- AICF), a program funded by the UK Government’s Department of International Development (DFID) from 2015-2009. Harakat-AICP envisions a business environment in Afghanistan that is transparent, predictable and easy to comply with, and that provides equal opportunities and encourages fair competition.
