On May 4, 2020, Harakat – Afghanistan Investment Climate Facility Organisation (H-AICFO) signed an MoU with Afghanistan’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MoIC). The MoU was signed between Mr. Noor Alam Hakimyar, Harakat’s CEO, and H.E. Ajmal Ahmady, Minister of Industry and Commerce.
This MoU commits both sides to jointly work in supporting and promoting trade, private sector, and investments in Afghanistan. Based on this MoU, both entities agreed on joint efforts to maintain a close and continuous working relationship to achieve their common objectives and to implement this MoU. Within the areas of cooperation, both parties will also collaborate on matters of common concerns, implementing joint programmes and programme activities. The MoU paves the way for both organisations to start a strategic partnership on Private Sector Development, Public-Private Partnership, Public-Private Dialogues, Investment Facilitation, Legal Reforms, and Women's Inclusion in the Economy
In the MoU signing ceremony, H.E. Ahmady said, “I have experience of working with Harakat when I was working as a senior adviser to Afghanistan’s President. Harakat has been a potent supporter of the private sector in the country. It, too, has unyieldingly supported relevant government and private sector entities.” He added, “This MoU is another step, taken by Harakat, toward boosting trade and investment.”
Mr. Hakimyar thanked Minister Ahmady for signing the MoU and said, “Under your leadership, numerous salient reforms have been brought to the Ministry.” He went on and added, “To H-AICFO, MoIC is a trusted and long-term strategic partner, and, since H-AICFO has been established, it has had seven joint projects with MoIC. This cooperation will continue.”
