The Board of Directors of Harakat – the Afghanistan Investment Climate Facility Organisation (H-AICFO), is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Najibullah Samim as the CEO.
Mr. Samim will lead the senior executive team to implement Harakat's vision and mission.
With over 14 years of experience in various executive positions, Mr. Samim joins Harakat after serving as the Executive Director of the Afghanistan Microfinance Association (AMA) since 2011. During that tenure, Mr. Samim represented AMA as the Founding Member, and also served as the Chairman of, the South Asian Micro-Entrepreneurs Network (SAMN).
Mr. Adrianus Melkert, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Harakat, said: “We are delighted that Mr. Samim has joined Harakat. His executive experience and knowledge of the private and development sectors provides a solid background to assist with Harakat’s activities. Working closely with government, civil society and private sector partners - we look forward to Harakat's continued contribution improving the investment climate in Afghanistan”
Harakat is a non-profit organization with the mission to be an influential advocate for reform, supporting the delivery of programmes that make a sustainable and cost-effective difference to the investment climate in Afghanistan. Harakat is working in partnership with different organisations, and is currently funded by the UK through the Department for International Development (DFID) and Sweden through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
Harakat's activities are presently focused in the areas of - public-private partnerships, legal and regulatory reform, investment facilitation, women’s economic inclusion and public-private dialogue.
With both a new Board and a senior executive team in place, Harakat will soon embark on consultation and dialogue with a broad cross section of stakeholders to further its investment promotion activities in Afghanistan.
